Pittsburgh, PA – Rain is returning across Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio on Friday, with a wave of showers and isolated thunder forecast to develop by midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a dry air mass is expected to hold off early rain outside Ohio, but organized showers will move east by early afternoon. Rain chances increase significantly from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with locations like Dubois, PA, Coshocton, OH, and Zanesville, OH showing a 75–80% chance of precipitation during peak hours.
Thunder chances remain low but not negligible, ranging from 5–15% across cities including Morgantown, WV, and Carrollton, OH. Some areas may hear brief rumbles between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, between 0.01 and 0.25 inches. Commuters in Pittsburgh, Oil City, and Washington, PA, should allow extra travel time due to possible wet roads and reduced visibility.
Drivers are urged to use headlights during heavier downpours and remain alert for slick conditions. Rain should taper off by midnight, leaving most areas dry overnight into early Saturday.
