Albany, NY – Snow continues to cause slick, slow travel across eastern New York, western Massachusetts, and southern Vermont tonight as a widespread winter storm lingers over the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday, with an additional inch of snow possible before precipitation tapers off. While major accumulations have already fallen earlier today, the latest band of steady snow continues to create hazardous conditions on roads, sidewalks, and bridges.

Communities from Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, and Glens Falls to Pittsfield, North Adams, Bennington, Brattleboro, and Windham County are experiencing reduced visibility and slippery surfaces. Even light additional snowfall may worsen conditions on untreated roads, especially during the evening commute.

NWS meteorologists say drivers and pedestrians should expect slow-going travel through tonight, advising everyone to build in extra time to reach their destinations and to move cautiously on icy walkways. Temperatures hovering near freezing will keep roads slick into the early overnight hours.

Officials also urge residents to carry basic emergency supplies—such as a flashlight, food, and water—if travel is necessary tonight.
