Albany, NY – Another unseasonably warm October day is on tap for eastern New York, with temperatures climbing well above average, according to the National Weather Service Albany. Forecasters say the region will see highs reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s today, roughly 15 to 20 degrees warmer than what’s typical for early October.

According to the NWS morning forecast discussion issued Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, much of the region will enjoy sunny skies and dry conditions. Valley areas such as the Hudson River corridor could see highs in the low to mid-80s, while higher elevations in the Catskills and Adirondacks will range from the upper 70s to low 80s.

Meteorologists say the unusually warm stretch continues a pattern of above-normal temperatures expected through the start of the week. Overnight lows will remain mild, with readings staying in the 50s and 60s.

Residents planning outdoor activities can expect ideal conditions, though officials remind hikers and motorists to stay hydrated and prepared for warm sun exposure.

Cooler, more seasonable air is forecast to arrive later in the week, bringing daytime highs back into the 60s.
