Albany, NY – Eastern New York and parts of western New England saw widespread heavy rainfall over the past two days, with some locations recording more than 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany office.

The two-day totals, measured from September 24–25, show the Hudson Valley, Catskills, Schoharie County, and southern Vermont were among the hardest-hit areas. According to NWS Albany, rainfall swaths of 3 to 4 inches were common, with localized pockets exceeding those levels.

Communities including Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Troy, and Albany reported significant totals between 3.5 and 4.8 inches. Farther south, parts of Ulster and Greene counties saw totals ranging from 2 to 3 inches. Northern areas such as Glens Falls and portions of Vermont recorded 2–2.5 inches, while lighter rainfall was reported in areas west of the Hudson Valley.

The NWS notes that rainfall reports are based on both radar analysis and submissions from the public, and actual totals may vary between observation points. Despite the widespread rainfall, no major flood emergencies were reported as of Friday afternoon, though officials caution that saturated soils may lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas if additional rainfall develops.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates for potential river rises and travel impacts, particularly in areas with higher terrain runoff.
