Greenville, NC – The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Martin, Pitt, and Washington counties from 2 p.m. Monday until midnight.

Forecasters expect light snow accumulations up to one inch, mainly during the late afternoon and evening hours Monday. Even small amounts of snow could lead to slippery travel conditions, especially on untreated roads and bridges.

The greater hazard may come after the snow ends, as temperatures are forecast to drop into the 20s Monday night, creating the potential for black ice and hazardous conditions early Tuesday morning.

Cities under the advisory include Greenville, Williamston, Plymouth, and Farmville. The snow could briefly impact the Monday evening commute, with slick spots lingering overnight.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution on icy or snow-covered surfaces. Motorists can check updated road conditions by dialing 511.
