According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, highs Friday will range from the upper 70s along the Outer Banks to the low and mid-80s inland, with a steady southerly wind helping boost temperatures well above seasonal averages. Cities including Greenville, New Bern, and Kinston are expected to reach 82 to 84 degrees, while coastal spots like Hatteras and Ocracoke stay closer to the mid-70s.
Dry conditions will hold through Saturday, keeping travel and outdoor plans largely unaffected across Highway 70 and U.S. 17 corridors. However, increasing moisture ahead of an approaching cold front will bring a return of rain chances by Sunday afternoon and evening.
Drivers and beachgoers should plan ahead for changing conditions late in the weekend, especially with wet roads and reduced visibility possible during heavier showers.
