Raleigh, NC – Severe weather is forecast for central and eastern North Carolina today, with a marginal risk for thunderstorms bringing damaging winds and localized flooding. Residents east of I-95 should prepare for storms this afternoon, particularly between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the risk is highest.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front moving through the region will bring wind gusts of 25-35 mph. Localized heavy rain could result in minor urban flooding. Residents in areas prone to flooding are urged to monitor conditions closely and avoid water-covered roadways. Power outages could also occur due to gusty winds.

Skies will clear overnight as temperatures drop to the low 30s. Thursday will be sunny but colder, with a high near 49 degrees and calmer winds. By Friday, expect partly sunny skies with a high of 50, followed by slightly warmer conditions Saturday, reaching the mid-50s. Rain chances return late Saturday night into Sunday.

Drivers along I-95 and US-1 should remain vigilant during the storms. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and drive cautiously in reduced visibility. Spotter activation is not expected, but reports of severe weather should be directed to the National Weather Service.

Prepare for cooler temperatures and dry conditions later this week. Stay updated on changing forecasts by following the National Weather Service or local news outlets.
