Albany, New York – Eastern New York experienced one of its hottest Julys on record, with temperatures surging more than 2°F above normal across the region.
According to the National Weather Service Albany, the city logged an average July temperature of 75.9°F — 2.8°F above normal — marking its 4th warmest July since 1820. Glens Falls and Poughkeepsie also saw top-five record warmth.
Rainfall was below average in most spots, with Albany recording just 3.24” (1.31” below normal). Glens Falls had the driest outcome, with just 2.04” of rain.
Heat waves and dry spells impacted agriculture and streamflow, with brief reprieve from scattered showers mid-month.
Forecasters expect the warming trend to continue into August, with above-average temperatures and slightly more rain possible next week.
