Albany, New York – Snow continues to affect eastern New York Saturday, but conditions are expected to steadily improve later today as the system pulls away, allowing a quieter stretch of weather to settle in through Sunday for most areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday for much of the region, including the southern Adirondacks, western Mohawk Valley, Lake George–Saratoga region, Taconics, and parts of the Hudson Valley. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected in many areas, with higher totals of 5 to 7 inches possible along the southern foothills of the Adirondacks and southern Green Mountains.
Road conditions remain slick this morning across Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, Pittsfield, and Bennington, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and higher elevations. Snowfall rates will gradually diminish through the afternoon as the storm weakens, though travel may remain slow into the early evening.
Once snow tapers off tonight, the region turns mainly dry through Sunday. The only exception will be the Adirondacks, where scattered snow showers may linger. Forecasters also note a low chance that the outer edge of a developing offshore storm could brush parts of western New England Sunday afternoon or evening, though impacts appear limited at this time.
Temperatures remain cold through the weekend, with highs staying near or below freezing and overnight lows dropping into the teens and 20s. While no additional advisories are currently planned after this evening, residents are encouraged to stay alert for updates if snow showers persist longer than expected.
