Albany, N.Y. – Residents across eastern New York and western New England will need jackets this week as cooler-than-normal nights settle in through Tuesday. Low temperatures are expected to dip into the 40s and 50s, with the Adirondack region seeing a few readings in the upper 30s.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the chill will be most noticeable in higher elevations, with towns like Old Forge and Piseco falling into the upper 30s on several mornings. Albany, Glens Falls, and Poughkeepsie will generally bottom out in the mid-to-upper 40s, while Kingston and Pittsfield will hover around the mid-40s to low 50s.

The cooler pattern will be felt statewide, from the Hudson Valley through the Capital Region and into western Massachusetts and southern Vermont. Overnight cold spots in the Adirondacks could lead to patchy valley fog by early morning, making for slower commutes along Route 28 and Route 30.

Residents should plan for crisp mornings and consider closing windows overnight. The weather service notes that autumn officially begins in less than four weeks, but this stretch is offering an early taste.

Temperatures will remain cool at night through early next week, with no major warmup expected before midweek.
