Albuquerque, NM – Eastern New Mexico is under a severe weather threat tonight at 10 PM, with the National Weather Service issuing warnings for flash floods and storms.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, another round of storms will develop over the mountains before moving southward over lower elevations. These storms could become severe, particularly in eastern New Mexico, bringing heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding. The affected areas include Clovis, Hobbs, and Carlsbad.

The flash flood threat is particularly concerning for areas with burn scars, which are at higher risk. Rainfall amounts could reach up to two inches in localized spots, causing rivers and streams to rise rapidly. The storm outlook for the weekend indicates continued rounds of afternoon and evening storms, extending into next week.
