Storm chances begin to develop later today, primarily along and south of I-80, with a 20 to 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms by late afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the mid-60s to mid-70s, adding instability to the atmosphere.
The more active period arrives Thursday, when storm chances increase to 50 to 90 percent across the region. A few storms could become strong, though the overall severe risk remains low. Additional storm chances continue Friday and increase again Saturday, when coverage could reach 60 to 80 percent. This unsettled pattern may persist into early next week.
