Omaha, Nebraska – Parts of Nebraska may see their first notable round of severe weather this season late Saturday night, with thunderstorms expected to develop after 11 p.m. and continue into early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, there’s a 15% chance of storms Saturday afternoon, but the severe threat increases to 30–60% overnight, particularly between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. The primary concern is hail up to 1 inch in diameter and gusty winds exceeding 60 mph. Tornadoes are not expected, and flash flooding risk remains low.

Cities including Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, and surrounding areas are under a level 1 (marginal) threat, meaning isolated severe storms are possible but not widespread. While Saturday begins mostly dry, outdoor events should wrap up early, and residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight.

The severe pattern could continue into next week, signaling a more active stretch after a quiet start to Nebraska’s 2025 storm season.
