Omaha, NE – The week begins on a bitter note across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, with temperatures in the teens and skies locked in clouds. Though travel conditions remain mostly dry through midweek, another round of light snow could return by Thursday as cold air tightens its grip on the Plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, early Monday temperatures hover near 17°F with a light south breeze. Clouds will dominate through the day, keeping highs near 36°F. By Tuesday, southerly winds strengthen slightly, helping warm the region briefly into the upper 40s — the warmest stretch of the week.

That mild air won’t last. By late Wednesday into Thursday, a weak disturbance will cross the central Plains, bringing a 20% chance of light snow. Flurries could dust grassy areas or untreated roads, though little accumulation is expected. Behind it, Arctic air returns, sending highs tumbling back into the 20s and lows into the teens by Friday morning.

Residents should plan for brisk winds up to 25 mph and a sharp drop in temperatures through the weekend, part of a larger cold pattern expected to extend across the Midwest into the Dec. 11–17 period. The coming days will feature below-normal temperatures, dry air, and scattered snow chances — a true early December feel.
