Omaha, Neb. – Drivers across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa could face reduced visibility early Wednesday as dense fog develops overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Omaha. The thickest fog is expected after 2 a.m., especially north of Omaha along a line from Blair into central Nebraska.

According to forecasters, visibilities may drop significantly in spots, creating hazardous travel conditions on highways including I-29, I-80, and U.S. 75. Conditions should improve by mid-to-late morning Wednesday as temperatures rise and winds pick up slightly.

No additional hazardous weather is expected beyond the early fog event, with the rest of the week shaping up to be mostly clear and warm. Highs will range from the upper 80s to near 90 by Thursday and Friday. A slight chance of isolated thunderstorms returns late Friday into Saturday, though rainfall totals are expected to remain light.

Travelers are advised to allow extra time on the roads overnight and use low-beam headlights when encountering fog. Spotter activation will not be needed during this event.
