Morehead City, NC – Eastern North Carolina will enjoy a stretch of mild fall weather before storm chances return late in the weekend, according to the U.S. National Weather Service office in Newport/Morehead City.

Thursday will bring bright sunshine and comfortable temperatures, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s and lows tonight dipping into the low 40s. “Abundant sunshine today! Enjoy those fall colors,” meteorologists said in Thursday morning’s update.

A warming trend begins Friday and continues into the weekend, with highs climbing into the mid-70s Friday and upper 70s Saturday and Sunday. While most of the weekend will remain pleasant, forecasters say a strong cold front will move through late Sunday, bringing a 35% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The front will usher in cooler, breezy conditions early next week, marking the transition to a more typical November pattern.

Residents planning outdoor activities are encouraged to enjoy the sunshine through Saturday but keep an eye on changing weather conditions late Sunday as storms develop.
