Newport, NC – Beachgoers and coastal residents in eastern North Carolina are urged to stay alert today as a Coastal Flood Advisory and Beach Hazards Statement remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Morehead City. Rough surf and dangerous rip currents continue to impact Carteret and Onslow Counties, prompting officials to warn against entering the ocean.

Up to 2 feet of water could inundate low-lying roads and parking lots near shorelines, including parts of Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach, and Highway 70 near Morehead City. Drivers should use caution and avoid flooded areas. Even strong swimmers are urged to stay out of the water until conditions improve later today.

By Tuesday, skies are expected to clear, giving way to sunny, mild weather with highs near 70°F. Winds from the northwest will help usher in a cooler, drier air mass, setting the stage for a classic fall week across the Crystal Coast.

Looking ahead, Wednesday and Thursday will bring crisp mornings in the 50s and highs in the low 70s to mid-70s — ideal for pumpkin patch visits or leaf-peeping. Sunshine dominates through the weekend, though a light breeze may make it feel a touch cooler at the beaches.

Residents planning outdoor events or travel this week should remain aware of changing conditions and continue to monitor local forecasts.
