Eastern Montana Weather Alert: Dangerous Heat Through Wednesday Evening Before Storm Chances Return

Glasgow, Mont. – Eastern Montana is baking under near-triple-digit heat, with a Heat Advisory in place for Glasgow and surrounding counties until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Afternoon highs are expected to push 99 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for anyone outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, southeast winds shifting northwest later in the day could gust over 20 mph, further straining those working outside or traveling on open highways. The agency urges residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity in peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors and livestock.

Relief will be slow to arrive. A slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms could develop after 9 p.m. Wednesday, offering minimal cooling with lows near 63. However, storm activity may bring gusts above 20 mph.

By Thursday, conditions improve as highs level off near 82 under mostly sunny skies. Nights will trend cooler, dipping into the low 50s by the weekend, with Friday and Saturday expected to stay seasonably mild in the upper 70s.

The Heat Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday evening, and additional advisories are possible if thunderstorms bring sudden shifts in wind or fire danger.
