Glasgow, Mont. – Thunderstorms could disrupt weekend plans across eastern Montana as unsettled weather builds Friday and continues into Saturday night, with the National Weather Service warning of scattered storms and heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, storms are most likely Friday night into Saturday, bringing gusty winds, lightning, and periods of rain. A 40 percent chance of showers and storms remains in the forecast until late Saturday before drier air moves in by Sunday.

Highs will reach the mid-80s Friday before cooling into the mid-70s Saturday, creating unstable air that favors storm development. Travel along U.S. Highway 2 from Wolf Point to Glasgow could be impacted by reduced visibility and slick roads during heavier downpours.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and prepare for potential power interruptions if lightning strikes occur. Those attending outdoor events in Valley, Phillips, and McCone counties should keep an eye on the sky and have shelter options ready.

Conditions improve Sunday into early next week, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 80s expected to return.
