Duluth, MN – Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue through late Friday across eastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, with localized severe weather possible in parts of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, thunderstorms may bring small hail, lightning, and localized heavy rainfall—particularly this afternoon and evening. The greatest potential for isolated severe storms exists near the St. Croix River Valley and southern portions of the Northland. Rainfall amounts between 0.25 to 1 inch are forecast, with higher totals likely under pockets of heavier rainfall.

Showers are expected to taper Friday night, though some areas could experience morning fog. Cooler temperatures will follow, with highs ranging from the low 40s to low 50s Friday and Saturday before slightly warming Sunday.

Residents in Duluth, Grand Rapids, Hinckley, and Ashland should remain weather-aware and prepare for changing road conditions, especially in rural or low-lying areas. The National Weather Service advises securing outdoor items and avoiding flooded roadways.

Looking ahead, most of the weekend appears drier, though east-central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin could see isolated showers Sunday afternoon.
