Eastern Massachusetts Weather Update: Pleasant Friday, Storm Threat Builds by Sunday Evening

Wakefield, Mass. – Sunshine and calm conditions will dominate Wakefield and much of eastern Massachusetts through Saturday, but a chance of thunderstorms arrives Sunday afternoon that could briefly disrupt outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will stay mostly sunny with highs around 71, while Saturday turns warmer, reaching near 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds will remain light, shifting from north to south across the weekend.

By Sunday, clouds increase, and showers or thunderstorms could develop after 11 a.m., with a 30% chance of rain. Highs will reach the upper 70s, making for a humid and unstable atmosphere across Middlesex and Essex counties. Storms could affect afternoon travel along I-93 and Route 128, as well as outdoor events across the North Shore.

Residents are advised to keep an eye on updated forecasts, as stronger cells could bring brief downpours or gusty winds. Outdoor gatherings and sporting events may face interruptions.

Conditions improve by Monday with sunshine and highs in the mid-70s, while dry, mild weather returns into midweek.
