Caribou, ME – Northern and eastern Maine will stay under unsettled weather through the weekend as a low-pressure system lingers over the region, bringing areas of fog and light rain showers, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou.

Forecasters say Friday will feature mostly cloudy skies with patchy morning fog and occasional light rain, especially around Katahdin and the Down East coast. Southerly winds could become breezy at times, adding to the damp feel.

According to the NWS, temperatures will gradually cool heading into the weekend, with daytime highs in the 40s and 50s and nighttime lows dipping into the 30s. A few isolated showers may persist in northern areas and along the coast, while river valley fog could develop overnight.

Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for coastal waters due to higher winds and waves. Conditions are expected to slowly improve Sunday as high pressure builds in, providing a brief break in the rain before another system approaches early next week.

Residents planning weekend travel should watch for reduced visibility in fog and damp roads from light showers.
