Caribou, ME – Eastern Maine residents can expect light rain and cool conditions today as a weak low-pressure system moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Showers will slowly push south across the area through the day and into the evening, with rainfall amounts generally less than a tenth of an inch. Daytime highs will reach the mid-40s in the north and low 50s along the coast.

By Tuesday, conditions will turn breezy but drier as surface high pressure builds in. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for coastal waters, with wind gusts reaching 25 knots nearshore and up to 30 knots offshore. Seas may build to 5 feet, prompting hazardous conditions for small vessels.

Forecasters are also tracking another developing low-pressure system expected to move in by late week, potentially bringing rain and gusty winds around Thursday and Friday. The exact track remains uncertain but could influence Halloween evening weather across northern and coastal Maine.

Residents and mariners are encouraged to stay tuned for forecast updates as the late-week system develops.
