Pikeville, KY – The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Martin, Floyd, Letcher, and Pike counties, effective from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters expect snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts possible in the higher terrain of Pike and Letcher counties. Snow will begin during the early morning hours Monday and continue into the afternoon.

The timing of the system is expected to impact both the Monday morning and evening commutes, leading to slick and snow-covered roads, especially on untreated and elevated surfaces.

Drivers across Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Whitesburg, and Inez are urged to slow down and use caution, as visibility may decrease during heavier snowfall.

The advisory remains in effect through late Monday afternoon, with gradual improvement expected by Monday night as temperatures stabilize.
