Jackson, Ky. – Drivers in eastern Kentucky could face reduced visibility early Monday as patchy fog lingers across Jackson and surrounding Breathitt County. Commuters on Highway 15 and rural backroads should allow extra travel time before conditions improve by midmorning.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, fog is expected between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday, followed by sunny skies and a high near 77. Winds will remain calm through the morning before shifting west around 5 mph in the afternoon. The quiet weather pattern holds through midweek with mild temperatures and mostly clear skies.

Monday night temperatures will dip near 49 degrees, bringing another round of patchy fog into Tuesday morning. Sunshine returns Tuesday with a high near 74, while nighttime lows fall into the upper 40s. Wednesday brings slightly warmer weather, with highs reaching 76 and mostly sunny skies, but fog could again limit visibility before sunrise.

By Thursday and Friday, eastern Kentucky warms into the upper 70s under clear skies. The cool nights will keep patchy fog in the forecast, especially in low-lying valleys and along creeks.

Residents are urged to stay cautious during early morning drives this week. Keep headlights on low beam in fog and avoid sudden braking. With overnight lows dipping into the upper 40s, homeowners may also want to prepare for cooler mornings by adjusting thermostats and protecting sensitive plants.

The calm, dry stretch is expected to continue into next weekend, giving Kentucky a welcome break from storm activity.
