Jackson, KY – Strong winds are expected to impact eastern and south-central Kentucky early Sunday as the National Weather Service in Jackson continues a Wind Advisory from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT Sunday. The advisory includes communities such as London, Somerset, Morehead, Whitley City, and Beattyville, where gusts up to 45 mph are possible.

According to the NWS, sustained southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph will strengthen overnight, with the strongest gusts occurring early to mid-morning ahead of an approaching cold front. These winds could blow down tree limbs, cause isolated power outages, and scatter outdoor decorations or loose objects.

Forecasters also cautioned that wet leaves on roads could make for slick driving conditions, particularly during the morning commute. After a brief lull in late morning, winds are expected to shift westerly and remain breezy through the afternoon, though below advisory levels.

Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are advised to use caution and secure outdoor items before winds increase overnight.
