Jackson, KY – The National Weather Service offices in Jackson and Louisville have issued Winter Weather Advisories for much of eastern and east-central Kentucky, warning of light snow and hazardous travel conditions from early Monday morning through Monday evening.

According to the NWS, snow will begin shortly after midnight and continue through the day, tapering off by early evening. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected across most of the region, with up to 3 inches possible on higher ridges above 2,000 feet, especially in Pike and Letcher Counties.

The advisory includes Lexington, Winchester, Morehead, Jackson, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, and Harlan, as well as Floyd, Knott, Lee, Breathitt, Morgan, and Fleming Counties.

Forecasters warn that even minor snowfall could cause slick roads, particularly on bridges and untreated secondary routes. The Monday morning commute is expected to be especially treacherous, with potential impacts lingering into the evening as temperatures remain near or below freezing.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra time for travel, and check GoKY.ky.gov for updated road conditions.
