Jackson, KY – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of eastern and southeastern Kentucky through tonight and early Tuesday, as snow showers continue to move across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

The advisory affects multiple counties, including Fleming, Rowan, Pulaski, Laurel, Harlan, Pike, and Bell, where snow accumulations are expected to range from around 1 inch in valleys to 3 inches at higher elevations. Locally higher totals are possible in persistent snow bands above 2,000 feet.

Forecasters warn that slippery roads and reduced visibility will make travel difficult this evening and into the early Tuesday commute. The heaviest snow is expected to continue into the late evening hours, tapering off gradually overnight.

Most accumulations will occur on grassy and elevated surfaces, but untreated or shaded roads may quickly become icy. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check goky.ky.gov or 511 for the latest travel conditions before heading out.

The NWS notes that temperatures will remain near freezing overnight, increasing the risk of patchy black ice into early Tuesday morning—particularly in the mountain counties near the Virginia border.
