Jackson, KY – Eastern Kentucky experienced record-breaking rainfall on Thursday as 1.61 inches of rain fell in London, surpassing the previous record of 1.03 inches set in 2022. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson reported the significant weather event, noting the heavy rainfall broke a daily record that had stood since 1954.
According to the NWS, rain chances will persist through the weekend and into early next week. Friday’s forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching a high of 85°F. Rain is expected to return on Saturday with temperatures peaking at 84°F, followed by a similarly wet Sunday with a high of 86°F.
The forecast for Monday includes a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping slightly to a high of 81°F. Rain chances increase to 55% on Tuesday, with a high of 80°F, and remain high through Wednesday, with a 50% chance of precipitation and a high of 80°F.
