Kansas City, MO – A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday, as strong north-to-northwest winds sweep across eastern Kansas and western Missouri, including the Kansas City metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected across Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Jackson, Clay, Cass, and Platte Counties. Impacted cities include Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, St. Joseph, and Liberty.

The NWS warns that these gusty winds may knock down small tree limbs and cause scattered power outages, particularly overnight. High-profile vehicles may encounter difficult driving conditions on area interstates and bridges, especially along I-70, I-35, and I-49.

The strongest gusts are expected between 9 p.m. and sunrise, with winds slowly decreasing through Wednesday morning. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and use caution when traveling during the advisory period.
