Davenport, Iowa – Quiet skies will give way to a potential overnight storm threat that could impact the Tuesday morning commute across the Quad Cities.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, storm chances increase after sunset Monday, with the highest risk for strong to severe storms developing after midnight and continuing into early Tuesday. Some storms may produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and brief lightning bursts that could reduce visibility for drivers before sunrise.
Communities along the Mississippi River, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline, could see storms arrive in waves overnight. Travel along I-74, I-80, and U.S. 61 may become slick at times, especially during heavier downpours. Areas to the south and west, including Muscatine and Clinton counties, may also see stronger cells develop.
Monday will remain warm and calm, with highs pushing into the upper 70s to low 80s before conditions shift overnight. By Tuesday, cooler air moves in behind the storms, dropping highs into the 70s and eventually the 40s by midweek.
Residents should secure outdoor items Monday evening and keep phones charged in case warnings are issued overnight. Additional updates are expected as storm timing and intensity become clearer.
