Davenport, IA – Floodwaters continue to threaten roads and riverbanks across eastern Iowa this week, with several counties facing moderate to significant flooding through Saturday. The Wapsipinicon and Cedar Rivers remain above flood stage, prompting extended warnings for areas near De Witt, Conesville, and Cedar Rapids.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the Wapsipinicon River near De Witt is expected to crest at 12.4 feet by early Wednesday, pushing water into low-lying neighborhoods between Wheatland and Calamus. Nearby, the Cedar River is impacting areas near Conesville and Marengo, with flooding also reported along the Iowa River in Louisa County.
Flood warnings are active in Clinton, Scott, Linn, Benton, and Louisa Counties. Water could overtop roads, especially near bridges and low-lying areas. Residents are urged not to drive through flooded streets and to avoid riverbanks where soil erosion is increasing.
More scattered storms are possible by the weekend, adding to already saturated conditions. Officials may extend flood alerts again if rainfall totals increase across eastern Iowa.
