Davenport, Iowa – Eastern Iowa and western Illinois face a renewed threat for strong thunderstorms and dangerous heat starting Thursday, with flooding concerns continuing along tributaries west of the Mississippi River. Localized storms could spark damaging wind gusts, while heat index values climb near 100 degrees through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, there’s a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather Thursday afternoon, particularly west of the Mississippi. Strong wind remains the primary hazard. Although confidence is low, another round of storms could develop by Saturday night and linger into early next week.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high of 90°F, with light winds. A few isolated storms may form in the afternoon or evening.
Friday: Sunny and hot. High near 91°F. Heat index could top 100°.
Saturday: Mostly sunny early, then a 30% chance of storms overnight.
Sunday into Monday: Storm chances increase with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs stay in the upper 80s.

Flooding continues along some eastern Iowa tributaries. Residents near the Cedar and Wapsipinicon Rivers should stay alert to rising water and heed local advisories. No spotter activation is expected today, but updates are likely as the weekend system nears.
