Davenport, Iowa – Gusty winds up to 35 mph and increasing storm coverage will impact the Quad Cities by Sunday afternoon, creating hazardous travel conditions across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, scattered showers will develop Saturday afternoon and evening, with rain chances between 20% and 50%, mainly west and northwest of Davenport. While lightning risk remains low today, conditions will become more active heading into Sunday.
By Sunday afternoon and evening, storm chances increase to as high as 80%, with cities including Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island seeing scattered thunderstorms. Winds will strengthen from the south-southwest at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching 35 mph, especially along open roadways like I-80 and I-74.
Temperatures will also climb, reaching the low to mid-70s Sunday after highs in the 50s and 60s Saturday. Another round of storms is possible Monday night, with highs pushing into the upper 70s to low 80s.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items ahead of Sunday’s winds and be prepared for sudden downpours and reduced visibility. Additional updates are likely as storm chances continue into early next week.
