DAVENPORT, Iowa – Residents across the Quad Cities should brace for a few rounds of thunderstorms and gusty winds Monday afternoon as a weak system sweeps across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities said small hail may accompany stronger cells, particularly along and east of the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance for rain is highest between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, with a 40–60% probability of storms. While severe weather is not anticipated, brief downpours could impact travel on I-74 and I-80 during the evening commute. Winds may gust up to 25 mph before shifting north overnight.

Conditions will quickly improve Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 70°F. The remainder of the week looks quiet and pleasant, with daytime highs climbing into the mid-70s by Friday and mostly clear nights in the 40s.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware through Monday evening and secure loose outdoor items before storms arrive. No widespread hazardous weather is expected after tonight.
