Moline, IL – The National Weather Service reports a historically low snowfall across eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and northeast Missouri. Many areas have received just 30-50% of their usual snow this winter.

According to the NWS Quad Cities, Burlington, Iowa, has recorded the least snowfall, followed by Moline, Illinois. Dubuque Airport reported the highest snowfall in the region at 14.9 inches, while Burlington saw only 2.7 inches. Cedar Rapids recorded 15.3 inches, and Iowa City measured 8.5 inches.

This winter ranks among the least snowy in history for the Quad Cities. Only two other seasons—1936-37 and 1921-22—had less snowfall in the December-to-February period. The trend suggests milder winters could continue.

Experts cite atmospheric conditions and climate trends as possible reasons for reduced snowfall. Forecasts indicate that significant snowfall remains unlikely in the coming weeks.
