Pocatello, ID – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pocatello reports that Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect across much of central and eastern Idaho through late tonight and into Monday, with continued snow expected to make travel hazardous.
For the Sun Valley Region, Sawtooth/Stanley Basin, Copper Basin, and Frank Church Wilderness, the advisory continues until midnight tonight, with an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow expected and up to 5 inches on higher ridges. Slick and snow-covered roads are likely across mountain passes.
Farther east, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. Monday for the Bear River Range, Caribou Range, Big Hole Mountains, and Island Park area. Snow totals between 3 and 6 inches are expected, with 6 to 12 inches possible above 7,000 feet. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially during the Monday morning commute.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution. The NWS recommends checking 511.idaho.gov for the latest road conditions before traveling through mountain routes or high passes.
This storm marks another surge of active fall weather across Idaho’s higher elevations, with snow continuing to build early-season snowpack across the central ranges.
