Pocatello, ID – Residents across eastern Idaho woke up to a chilly morning as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pocatello confirmed a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the NWS, overnight lows dipped to around 33 degrees, leading to widespread frost formation in the Arco/Mud Lake Desert, Upper Snake River Plain, and Lower Snake River Plain.
The advisory includes cities such as Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Rexburg, Shelley, Blackfoot, American Falls, St. Anthony, Fort Hall, and Mud Lake, along with areas near Craters of the Moon National Monument.
Meteorologists warn that the cold conditions could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected. Homeowners are urged to cover gardens and bring vulnerable potted plants indoors.
While temperatures are expected to rise later this morning, the early-season frost highlights the arrival of colder fall conditions across Idaho. The NWS advises residents to take precautions during future cold snaps as the region transitions into the cooler months.
