SHOW LOW, Ariz. – Snow will begin sticking to bridges and mountain highways by 8 p.m. Monday, setting up slick and hazardous travel across the White Mountains through Tuesday afternoon. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will blow snow across roadways, lowering visibility during the Tuesday morning drive.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. MST Tuesday for the White Mountains, including Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Greer, and Alpine. Snow accumulations could reach up to 10 inches in the highest elevations, with 2 to 4 inches near Alpine, 1 to 2 inches in Pinetop-Lakeside, and lighter totals around Show Low and Whiteriver.

Highways such as State Route 260 and State Route 273 may become snow-packed overnight. Bridges and overpasses will freeze first, increasing the risk of spinouts. Gusty winds may also snap small tree branches.

Drivers should slow down, increase following distance, and check the latest road conditions at az511.gov or by calling 511 before traveling. The advisory expires at 5 p.m. Tuesday, though lingering slick spots could last into Tuesday night.
