Calumet County, WI – A late-night multi-county pursuit ended dramatically early Thursday when a suspect allegedly drove into Lake Winnebago following a 20-mile police chase through eastern Wisconsin.

According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began around 1:58 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, after authorities were alerted by the Green Bay Police Department about a man wanted for multiple felony bail-jumping and fleeing charges. The suspect was reportedly armed with a machete and a baseball bat while under electronic monitoring in Sheboygan County.

Officers from Chilton Police first spotted the vehicle on Highway 57, but the driver allegedly refused to stop, sparking a pursuit that crossed through Calumet, Kiel, and Fond du Lac Counties. Deputies say the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway at one point, damaging a yard and striking a tree before re-entering Calumet County.

The chase ended when the driver plunged into Lake Winnebago near Gladwater Beach Road. Authorities used a drone to monitor the suspect, who initially refused to surrender before finally being taken into custody without injury. Deputies recovered several bladed weapons and a baseball bat from the submerged vehicle.

The suspect is now being held in the Calumet County Jail on charges of felony bail jumping and fleeing/eluding law enforcement.
