Shreveport, LA – After a cool and dry start to the day, rain is expected to make a return across parts of northwest Louisiana, southwest Arkansas, and east Texas tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport.
Forecasters say temperatures will rebound quickly this afternoon, rising from near or below freezing early Wednesday morning to the lower 50s north and near 60 degrees south. Increasing clouds will signal the approach of the next weather system moving in from the southwest.
According to NWS meteorologists, showers will begin developing in deep east Texas after sunset, gradually spreading northeast through the evening. The highest rain chances are expected overnight, with probabilities ranging from 60–90% across Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and Shreveport, tapering off slightly farther north toward Texarkana and El Dorado.
While the rain is not expected to be heavy, it will mark the beginning of a more unsettled pattern extending into late week. The NWS advises residents to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy for Thursday, as scattered showers may linger through much of the day.
Travelers should also be aware of wet roads and reduced visibility tonight as light to moderate rain spreads across the Ark-La-Tex region.
By Friday, a brief break in precipitation may arrive before another round of rain develops over the weekend.
