East Grand Forks, MN – Residents will see a summer-like start to October with sunshine and warm temperatures today, but the weekend forecast brings a sharp turn toward stormy weather.

According to the National Weather Service, East Grand Forks will reach a high near 87°F today (Thursday) under sunny skies before dipping into the upper 50s tonight. Friday will remain mostly sunny and breezy with a high near 89°F.

Conditions change late Saturday into Sunday. Meteorologists say there is a 20% chance of showers Saturday afternoon, with storms more likely to develop overnight. Rain chances rise to 70% Saturday night, with showers and possible thunderstorms after midnight.

By Sunday, a 90% chance of rain is forecast, with showers and storms likely throughout the day. Breezy conditions are expected, with northwest winds up to 22 mph and gusts as high as 32 mph. Rainfall could total up to half an inch in some areas.

Temperatures will cool sharply into next week, with Sunday’s high only reaching 64°F before dropping into the upper 30s overnight. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be dry and sunny, with highs in the mid-60s.
