East Grand Forks, Minn. – Smoke from western wildfires could impact air quality across East Grand Forks by Saturday as dry conditions and gusty winds sweep into the region, followed by a spike to near 90°F on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, areas of smoke are expected to develop Saturday morning with north-northwest winds reaching 18 mph. Daytime highs will climb to 88°F on Saturday and 90°F on Sunday under mostly clear skies. The smoky conditions may reduce visibility and pose health concerns for sensitive groups.
Gusty winds Friday and Saturday may spread smoke from nearby regions, particularly affecting outdoor plans and evening events. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activity if smoke becomes dense and keep air filters or purifiers running indoors.
A shift in the pattern begins Monday, when a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 1 p.m. South winds will pick up again, potentially bringing relief from the weekend’s hot, smoky air.
Weather alerts remain possible, especially if smoke density increases or storm risks intensify into next week.
