Boston, MA – A stretch of late-season warmth is setting up across the East Coast as above-normal temperatures combine with below-average rainfall through the end of next week. The National Weather Service outlook shows much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic leaning hotter than normal from September 20 through September 26.

According to the Climate Prediction Center, rainfall is expected to run below normal in New England and parts of the Mid-Atlantic during this period. That could mean an extended dry stretch for cities like Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, with limited relief for ongoing drought concerns in parts of the region.

Washington, D.C. and Baltimore are also projected to run warmer than average, keeping afternoon highs feeling more like summer well into late September. Meanwhile, New England could see crisp mornings but limited rain chances, raising fire weather risks where vegetation remains dry.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor burning, conserve water where restrictions are in place, and prepare for higher electricity demand as cooling systems remain in use longer than typical for this time of year.

Warmer, drier conditions are expected to persist through late next week, with the next significant shift in weather patterns not anticipated until early October.
