New York City, New York – Easter Sunday travel along the I-95 corridor from Maine to Florida could slow significantly as widespread rain and unseasonably warm temperatures create wet roads and reduced visibility during peak holiday travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service, this 6-to-10 day outlook favors above-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures along the entire East Coast through midweek, supporting a prolonged stretch of wet and mild conditions.

From Portland, Maine through Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., steady rain is expected to develop early Sunday between 5 a.m. and noon, with rainfall totals ranging from 1 to 2 inches. Major routes including I-95, I-84, and I-90 may see ponding water and slower traffic during Easter travel.

Farther south, including Richmond, Raleigh, Charleston, and Jacksonville down to Miami, periods of rain will continue, with occasional heavier bursts along coastal areas. Warm air will keep temperatures above seasonal averages, with highs climbing into the 70s and 80s.

Air travel hubs including JFK, Newark, Reagan National, and Miami International could see delays tied to low cloud ceilings and steady rain.

Outdoor Easter events, including egg hunts and gatherings, may be impacted or forced indoors due to persistent rainfall.

This wet and warm pattern continues through April 9, with additional rounds of rain likely and ongoing impacts to travel and outdoor plans along the East Coast.
