Des Moines, Iowa – Morning commuters across Iowa dealt with patchy fog and light drizzle Tuesday, but most areas can expect dry conditions to return and hold through Wednesday. The National Weather Service reports only a 20% chance of isolated showers with occasional thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening, mainly from northern into east-central Iowa.

According to forecasters, the boundary moving through the state today could trigger a few pop-up storms. While a strong storm is possible, the risk for severe weather remains low. Outside of these isolated cells, skies will stay dry, and roads should remain clear for the remainder of the week.

Travelers in counties including Cerro Gordo, Black Hawk, and Linn should watch for brief downpours this evening. Those with outdoor plans in affected areas may want to keep an umbrella handy, though most communities will avoid any rainfall.

Conditions will stabilize overnight, with a dry pattern expected for much of Iowa through midweek. No additional watches or warnings are currently in effect.
