East-Central Illinois Prepares for Gusty Winds and Isolated Storms

Champaign, IL – Gusty northwest winds will continue this morning in east-central Illinois, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph around Danville and Paris. A Wind Advisory is in effect for Vermilion and Edgar Counties, including Danville and Paris. These strong winds are expected to toss loose lightweight objects, damage tree limbs, and potentially cause a few power outages.

According to the US National Weather Service Central Illinois, the remnants of Beryl will depart by Wednesday morning. However, unsettled weather will continue with isolated thunderstorms expected each day through Saturday. Today’s forecast for Champaign predicts a high of 83°F, with an 80% chance of rain and wind gusts up to 33 mph.

Thursday will see a slight dip in temperatures with highs ranging from 64°F to 76°F and a 55% chance of rain. Friday’s weather is forecasted to be partly cloudy with a high of 77°F, followed by isolated thunderstorms on Saturday, with highs reaching 88°F to 91°F.

Sunday and Monday are expected to bring hot and humid conditions with highs of 89°F to 95°F and heat indices over 100 degrees. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against the heat.
