Melbourne, FL – Isolated to scattered showers are forecast today across east-central Florida, with the highest rain chances expected south of the FL Turnpike. Breezy winds will also elevate the risk of rip currents along all area beaches, making conditions hazardous for swimming.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will be sporadic throughout Saturday, with highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s. Winds from the southeast at 10–20 mph will enhance choppy surf, especially near popular beach destinations. Beachgoers are advised to avoid swimming and heed local flag warnings.
By Saturday night, skies will remain partly cloudy with temperatures dipping to a mild 67°F. A slight chance of showers will persist overnight, with gusty winds adding to the cooler feel.
Sunday’s weather will bring a higher likelihood of rain and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Temperatures are forecast to reach 77°F, though gusty winds from the south may make outdoor activities challenging.
Looking ahead to the New Year’s week, Monday and Tuesday are expected to clear up, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 75°F and 79°F, respectively. Cooler temperatures are forecast for New Year’s Eve, with nighttime lows in the 50s and drier weather extending into Wednesday.
Residents should stay informed by checking updates from local meteorologists and the National Weather Service for changing conditions. Visitors to the coast should also remain cautious of dangerous rip currents through the weekend.
