Melbourne, FL – The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Flood Watch and High Surf Advisory for east central Florida, warning of multiple hazards through Monday, October 6. Coastal counties including Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin face heavy rain, dangerous surf, and the potential for beach erosion.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered to numerous showers are expected to continue through tonight and into Monday. Most areas will see less than 1.5 inches of rainfall, but localized downpours could bring up to 4 inches, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

Along the Atlantic coast, forecasters report rough surf of 5 to 8 feet and high rip current risks, with high tides between 6–8 a.m. and p.m.. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the ocean and follow instructions from local lifeguards. Moderate beach and dune erosion is also expected due to persistent easterly winds.

Today’s forecast calls for highs in the mid-80s across Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Melbourne, with 50–60% rain chances across the region.

Residents are advised to monitor official updates and avoid flooded roads and beaches through Monday.
