Orlando, Florida – April 2025 closed as one of the driest months on record for east central Florida, with rainfall totals falling below one inch across nearly every reporting station.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Daytona Beach received just 0.02 inches of rain—more than two inches below normal—making it the second driest April since records began in 1923. Other cities, including Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, and Orlando, ranked among the top 10 driest Aprils ever recorded.

The region also experienced unseasonably warm temperatures, averaging 1 to 3 degrees above normal. Sanford and Leesburg both posted top-10 warmest Aprils, with average highs around 74 to 75 degrees. Orlando logged its 11th warmest April since recordkeeping began in 1892.

The combination of warmth and dryness has increased wildfire risks and prompted local officials to urge residents to conserve water and avoid outdoor burning. Those relying on wells or agricultural water sources may also begin to feel strain if dry conditions persist.

Rain chances remain low heading into early May, and officials warn that if the dry spell continues, further drought advisories may be issued. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the Florida Division of Emergency Management and local utilities.
